If a person is legally married, the person can have a religious wedding ceremony. Some people become legally married before the ceremony, and some people renew vows in a ceremony after years of marriage.

Yes you can, although it is not normally necessary to do so. if you were married in a civil ceremony and want to be married "in the Catholic Church", you cannot have another marriage ceremony but you can arrange a ceremony to have your marriage blessed.

Be aware though, that you will still be required to follow all Church requirements and that you might be prohibited from a sacramental marriage if you have an impediment. Please see your local parish marriage director for specific information.

Could a couple legally marry in a civil ceremony at the court house if they were already secretly married in a different state?

If you are legally married in the U.S. you can't get legally married again. You could have a ceremony the second time for family and friends w/a someone officiating. Congratulations. * Yes. There are no laws that prevent a person from having a civil ceremony even if they are already married. The couple simply need to declare the fact on the application for the marriage license.

No. You are not legally married until the officiant has signed the marriage license and returned it to the County Clerk. At that point you are legally married. The ceremony is just for show as far as the government is concerned.

If your husband was married in CA when he married you in Tijuana are you married?

It does not matter where a marriage happens. If a person goes though a marriage ceremony with someone when they are already legally married to someone else, then the second marriage ceremony is not legally valid and you are not married. The person who is already married is also committing a crime. So the answer is - No you are not married. You should also be aware that his first wife is his legal heir at law if he should die and leave any estate. You have no rights in that regard and you have no husband.

If I am my divorcing my new husband and i married in a religious ceremony so we were proper in god's eyes It wasn't a legal ceremony We live in Ca He passed 22 days ago do i have any rights?

Are you divorcing him or is he deceased? Regardless, if you were never legally married, then you aren't legally married (no matter if you consider it proper in God's eyes or not), and therefore you have no spousal rights at all.

If you got married by justice of the peace in one state can you get married to the same person by the church in a different state?

You can arrange to have a religious ceremony to bless your marriage. Be prepared to show a copy of your marriage license and be sure to tell the cleric that you were already married in a civil ceremony.

What if not religious and getting married?

The marriage ceremony does not need to be religious in nature, just legal and sincere.

Is it necessary to do the marriage ceremony?

In most if not all states in the U.S. a marriage ceremony is necessary to satisfy the requirements to be legally married.

Is unlawfull to remarry same person without a divorce?

It is not unlawful but it would be of no effect. You can arrange a "ceremony" where you reaffirm your marriage vows but it wouldn't be an official marriage. You would not be issued a marriage license if you applied for one because you would have to disclose to the issuing authority that you are already married. Marriage is a civil legal status. Once you're married you are legally married. You can't do it again legally unless you divorce in between marriages. It is not unlawful but it would be of no effect.
