According to my neighbor, a local NJ cop, any lights accept standard brake, turning signal and headlights are illegal. He said it depends on the cop who sees you. Some know the law but don't sweat it and some will...just like every other State law.

Red and Blue lights are illegal in most if not all states since these are emergency vehicle light colors. Other then these two colors I don't find any law for Iowa regarding colors that are or are not allowed. There are exceptions that apply to flashing lights. Flashing yellow, amber, white, red and blue lights are for emergencies.
