One option is to purchase rechargeable batteries that have a larger capacity. Rechargeable batteries that come with 2400mAh of capacity have a larger capacity because of their material properties. Increasing a batteries capacity would require chemical or mechanical alteration of the battery which can be very dangerous.
You may also increase the capacity of any battery by wiring it in parallel with another battery of the same voltage. In other words, connect the negative terminal of one to the negative terminal of the other, the positive terminal of one to the positive terminal of the other, and then connect both positives to the positive input of your device and both negatives to the negative side of your device.

Having read your answer I can see that my question was somewhat poorly written.
What I should of asked was can I replace the rechargeable 1600mAh batteries that were supplied in a pair of hair clippers with 2400mAh batteries without causing any harm.
My concern being that the motor could possibly draw too much current and overheat or something along those lines.

Ah, yes, if you keep the same voltage your circuits should not have any problems. Since the circuit load doesn't change and the input voltage is the same, there's no risk of drawing anything other than normal current! Ohms law tells us this: V=IZ or I=V/Z where Z is the impedance of your electronic device, I is the current, and V is the battery voltage. Capacity does not even come into play!

The size of that battery can increase weight, but the size can improve burn time and brightness. Bigger batteries generally supply more power. If the volts are increased this increases the capacity for a brighter bulb. If the amps are increased this increases the burn time of the flashlight.
