I've repalced a fuel pump in a 94 Cadillac STS and it required removal of the gas tank. The sending unit is on top of the tank.

theres 1 on each manifold and one after the catalict converter if youre gonna buy new ones i recommend going to the dealer to buy them not install them they charge an arm and leg for almost just walking in

I'm going to assume that it is similar to the cover on the 1997 Deville Concours. In the '97 you simply 'pull up' on the cover. It has prongs that press and snap into receiver ports in the vehicle proper.
pop out the light assembly with a screwdriver and change the bulb. your receptacle may be taking in water at the car wash. duct tape over lens before going through automatic car wash.
The fuel pump will be located on the left front side of the engine, right behind the harmonic balancer. The power steering assembly will have to be removed to gain access to the pump. It will have three lines going to it, and two bolts holding it on.
