You can jump start a gasoline powered car by using a diesel powered auto. The only thing that must be remembered, is that the batteries must be the same voltage(12 volt). And make sure that the jumpeer cables are connected to the right posts. Red to red & black to black. brewski

Can you jump start a flat battery on a diesel car from a petrol car?

The diesel battery is bigger as it take a lot more to get a diesel engine going. Best bet is to charge the diesel battery using the petrol, connect the 2 and leave the petrol engine running.

Can you jump start a flat battery on a petrol car from a diesel car?

Yes so long as the battery's are the same voltage it Will make no difference what fuels the engine.

Your car wont start was making a clicking sound and now it its doing anything.?

sounds like a flat battery get a battery charger or jumpstart it with jump leads

Is a diesel engine battery the same as a deep cycle battery?

No, a deep cycle battery is designed to be run completely down without doing harm to the battery. A normal automotive battery be it diesel or gasoline is not designed to be run flat and every time it is run flat it's life is shortened.

Vw t25 1.9 water cooled 1988 does this have cambelt?

If it is a flat fout PETROL, then no, it doesn't. If it is diesel, then yes.

Can you jump-start a flat battery on a diesel car from a petrol car?

Not recommended. The diesel engine has no sparkplugs and therefore relies on friction (heat) and compression, and as a result requires lots more torque power to start than its gasoline powered counterpart whose battery does not have enough amperage to turn over a diesel engine, much less start it running. As long as the specification of the Battery is up to or matches the specification of the engine electrics it doesnt matter if the battery is from a petrol, diesel, tractor or boat. Electricity is a discovery in science and independendant of the fuel your car\ engine uses once it is turning over. All you need to know is the amperage is within a reasonable variance and the voltage is correct. I started my Peugeot 407 diesel this morning from my wifes petrol Freelander. The Peugeot started in hald a tick. Always suggest that you have the engine running on the car you are jumping the charge from.

Why does your 07 Ram 2500 Diesel just make a clicking noise when you try to start it?

Flat battery

What can cause a car engine to not start?

Can only be: no petrol or an electrical fault = flat battery, no spark, electrical short, bad wiring.

Is a car alternator essential?

The alternator is what powers the electronic systems in a car. This includes the ignition system in a petrol engine, as well as the electronic fuel injection system in both modern petrol, and diesel engines. It also provides power to recharge the battery, so that power is available when the engine is not running. The battery is also required to power the electromagnets in an alternator, so that it may generate power. All lighting and accessories depend on the alternator. Although a car might run off the battery alone, it will only do so for a short time, before it goes flat.

Your car wont crank it makes a popping sound under the hood?

sounds like a flat battery....the sound you're hearing is most likely coming from the solenoid. When getting a jumpstart leave the othercar running for about 5 minutes connected to your battery before trying to start your car.

Can you jump start two diesel cars?

To jump start a diesel vehicle with a flat battery? you can, just make sure the voltages on both vehicles batteries are the same. I believe if the alternator is not performing as it should the diesel engine may not operate as electric fuel injection will not operate.
