Yes, as long as the floor is smooth and level. Don't forget the pad for laminate if it isn't already attached.

Not a good idea in case the flooring separates or expands. I would remove the flooring first.

Pergo's laminate flooring is comparable with other laminate flooring options on the market in terms of cost, the range of styles available, and durability, scratch-resistance, and water resistance. How to Choose Between Hardwood and Laminate Flooring?

If you’re in the market to purchase new flooring for your home and are interested in wood floors, you’ll be faced with the choice between real hardwood flooring or laminate. While it may seem that choosing real hardwood is the smart choice, there are some things to consider that can make the decision more difficult. The most important factor in choosing between the different types of flooring is your budget. Hardwood floors are many times more expensive than laminate flooring. If you are on a tight budget, you can get the look of a hardwood floor by purchasing a laminate floor. In the past, it was easy to tell the difference between laminate wood floors and true hardwood, but with newer manufacturing processes, it can be difficult to tell the difference from appearances alone. Next, you have to consider where you want to install the floor. Hardwood floors need to be nailed or glued into place, making them difficult and expensive to install over cement slabs. Also, if you are installing hardwood flooring into areas that have a lot of moisture like bathrooms or kitchens, hardwood flooring can warp from the water. On the other hand, laminate flooring can be placed on top of any subsurface. Laminate flooring is installed in such a way that it floats over the existing subsurface, making it easy to install and remove. Laminate floors are also more durable than hardwood flooring. Hardwood floors wear down over the years and can scratch and lose their polish. After several years, the hardwood will need to be refinished in order to bring back its original luster and appearance. In addition, hardwood flooring can fade in sunlight. Laminate floors are very durable and resist scratching and impact dents. Not only this, but they will never fade and never need refinishing. Finally, laminate floors are very easy to maintain. All that they require is a quick mopping from time to time. If you have children who are prone to make messes in the house, laminate flooring may make it easier to maintain a clean home. Before you decide on the material for your new, wood flooring, consider the benefits and negatives to both flooring options so that you can install the flooring that is right for your circumstances.

Can a small part of water damaged laminate flooring require the laminate flooring of the whole room to be changed?

The nice thing about laminate is that each board is independent of the rest & can be removed & replaced. If may not be fast and you may have to disassemble the floor out to the damage but it all clicks Right back together If you have a few spare boards or a closet to steal a few from, you are good to go. Be sure to mark them so you know where they came out and what the order was.

When laminate is made is it a pattern or just layers which can not be matched perfectly?

I know floor tiles have arrows on the back so the design will match up, but floors have a large area to cover as opposed to laminate, less area to cover. Laminate usually used for counter-tops have angles, radius's, curves, etc., your best bet is to check customer services at company that made your laminate. Good-Luck!

Is amtiko flooring the same as laminated flooring?

No. Amtico is an engineered luxury vinyl tile (LVT tile). Laminate is a veneered product. It will have possibly an MDF back with a picture of wood on the surface. An LVT will perform much better and allows you to be more creative. Amtico or Karndean are the two leading manufacturers. I am in the flooring industry and specialise in Karndean.

How do you cut laminate flooring for transition pieces to fit if the flooring has already been installed?

This can be quite difficult. I would recommend removing the flooring back to the point where the transition needs to be, if possible, then cutting the single piece or pieces that need to be cut. The other method would require dropping a circular saw in from above and finishing the corners of the cut with a chisel.

What's the best type of flooring for the kitchen?

How to Care for Laminate Floors and Keep Them Looking Like New?

Wood flooring is a popular choice for today’s homeowners because it is easy to care for and looks great in just about any room. Yet the high cost of solid wood makes wood flooring prohibitively expensive for many people. That is why laminate floors that mimic the look of real wood are so popular. Laminate flooring is made of several different layers of paper and covered with a protective outer layer that looks just like a plank of wood. Though they are durable, this construction requires that homeowners take good care of their laminate floors lest they become damage beyond repair. Here is a simple guide for maintaining laminate flooring in the home or office.First, never use a wet mop to clean laminate. Laminate floors will absorb water if too much is applied, and the portion of a floor that absorbs water will be ruined. Simple sweeping and mopping with only a mop head that is slightly damp will prevent any problems from occurring.Second, make sure to clean up immediately any liquids spilt upon a laminate floor. Such liquids can seep in and warp or swell the laminate planks.Third, never drag furniture across a laminate floor. The legs of a table or chairs can scrape at the laminate, removing its protective outer layer and even scratching the floor. Wood floors can be sanded to remove scratches, but laminate floors cannot be fixed in this way.Fourth, protect laminate floors from accidental dragging of furniture through the use of felt furniture pads that are attached to the bottom of the furniture legs. These pads have a sticky back, which attaches them to the furniture in question, and a felt bottom that cushions the floor and protects it from the legs of table, chairs, and other furniture. Finally, use area rugs in high traffic areas. Dirt and other substances tracked onto laminate floors can end up scratching the laminate in the long run. Having area rugs or protective mats will prevent much of these scratching agents from getting onto the floor. Also, making people take off their shoes before entering the house can keep these scratchy substances at bay.
