No, this is not advised. The pan can be damaged in this process. It is better to lift the car by the frame.
lift engine by removung the motor mount bolts. jack up engine and remove oil pan bolts
First check the bleed off valve, the thing you turn to let the jack down. If it is not tight , the oil will by pass under pressure and the jack will not lift. If that is not the problem then check toe oil in the jack. if the oil is low it may not lift a load, Could be an air bubble also. if you can't find anything else wrong try turning the jack upside down.
If you will jack up the car and crawl under the engine area you will find the oil filter. It is mounted on the engine block. Look hard and you will find it. Be sure and use jack stands when under the car.
You'll need to loosen the engine mounts. Then use a jack to lift the engine to for the clearance you need. This can be extremely difficult depending on how much room is provided and the tools you have. You may need lift the engine with a hoist if you aren't able to place a jack underneath to rais the engine.
under the engine in the front. you have to lift the car AND then remove the plastic guard in order to see the oil filter.
Remove the two motor mount bolts to the frame, place a wood block under the harmonic damper with a jack under it and jack the engien up. Be careful not to raise the engine to much or you can damage the hoses and other stuff running down the fire wall. Take all the oil pan bolts off, now remove the oil pickup and oil pump with the oil pan resting on the frame. you will not be able to get the oil pan out from under the engine until you remove the oil pump and oil pickup. Hope that helps
under the hood on the passenger side fire wall. the oil filter is aprox. 8 inches above the oil drain plug on the back of the motor on the driver side On the back of the engine block. Above the driveshaft. You need to lift the car on jack stands and get under it to get it.
to keep the timing gears im place, each gear will have a dot or arrow, pay attention to that, get the belt lined up, then used a pair of vice grips on the belt to hold it all in place You stick a jack under the oil pan but with a wood on it so you don't dent the oil pan. If the jack doesn't fit, you will have to use two jacks. One is for lifting the car enough to get the second jack under it. You then lift the engine from the oil pan just enough for the weight to be on the jack instead of the engine mounts and not actually lift up the engine. You then remove the upper right engine mount. Then, you take off the timing belt cover and a bunch of other crap that you should buy a Haynes or Chilton manual for.
It should be on the lower left side back of the engine, next to the oil pan. You'll have to crawl under to see it. If it is a 2wd you may want to put it on a lift or jack it up. It can be a pain to reach.
you must jack the engine up under the oil pan with a piece of wood on the jack so you dont bend the oil pan. then jack the engine up. once you have lifted the engine about 3 inches remove the bolts to the engine mount and put the new one on. after the new on is one drop the engine and your finished!
You will have to jack it up or put it on a lift.
Pull or lift the engine, drop the pan then replace the oil pump. Pull or lift the engine, drop the pan then replace the oil pump.
