If it has overdrive use it! it is a "highway gear" it will make no difference what so ever until you get up to speed then it will shift into overdrive and save you gas!
keep the overdrive shaft button pressed, there is a panel light called "O/D" that should light indicating the overdrive is OFF. In that case make sure the light is OFF which means overdrive is ON.
no
Overdrive lets the engine run slower at highway speeds. This saves on gas.
Same as you do on a manual transmission... you drain the transmission fluid, remove the PTO cover, and install the hydraulic pump or motor where the PTO cover was.
Sounds like an overdrive problem. The transmission is kicking in and out of overdrive causing it to overwork and get too hot. turn the overdrive off and try it.
the overdrive is used to save gas. it is an additional gear after your final gear in the transmission. this gear usually kicks in at higher speeds (maybe 50+). you will notice the tach drop down about 500 rpm's as the vehicle kicks into overdrive. it does not make your car go faster or slower. you will not have be able to accelerate as fast in overdrive as you will in other gears. if it is an automatic overdrive then as you slow down the overdrive will automatically be taken off.
No, just the opposite. Overdrive is an extra gear, the use of which, make the vehicle more economical.
The transmission is on its way out.You could drive the vehicle with the overdrive function turned off to buy some time.
you probably have a button or switch to turn overdrive on and off, it may be on the end of your shift lever, you probably want to keep the overdrive on, save you some gas, hope i helped
Light being on means overdrive is inactive
No it is not Overdrive is the top gear that has a higher ration than 1 to 1. So if you have a 4 speed automatic with overdrive, then 4th is not overdrive. Overdrive is beyond 4th.
