Yes. But add twice as much. When you use self-raising flour, add 1 tspoon of baking powder, to lighten the cake. So just add about 1 tbspoon if using plain flour.

Can you use baking powder instead of baking soda in peanut butter bar cookies?

Hmmm. One can not substitute flour with baking powder. One can however substitute selfraising flour with ordinary flour and a few teaspoons of baking powder. (My best guess would be approx 1 teaspoon of baking powder per 150-200 grams of flour.)

What is selfraising flour?

This is "white" wheat flour or wholemeal flour that is sold premixed with chemical leavening agents. It is flour that has a leavening agent - baking powder - and salt added to it during packaging

Can you add baking powder to self raising flour when baking busicuts?

Add one rounded teaspoon of baking powder to each cup of flour. I frequently do this and it always work. Note - not a flat teaspoon of baking powder, not a heaped teaspoon but a rounded teaspoon!

Can baking powder and soda be used in a cooked mixture rather than in the flour mixture in a recipe?

I personally would never use baking soda or baking soda as a substitute for flour because they have different uses. Plus, that much baking soda or baking powder and no flour would leave a horrible taste in your mouth. Baking soda and baking powder are only used to make food rise while cooking and only a small amount of each is needed. While flour is more for adding density and flavour. If you're looking for a substitute for regular wheat flour, I would suggest oat flour, corn flour or soy flour.

What is self-rising flour?

Self-rising flour is a mix of flour and salt and a leavening agent (baking powder). Most recipes that mention self-rising flour leave out the baking powder. You can make your own cup with the following: 1 cup of all purpose flour 1 1/4 teaspoon of baking powder and a pinch of salt Happy Baking....

When you use plain flour instead of cake flour do you not have to add baking powder?

Follow the recipe for the amount of baking powder to use whether your using regular flour or cake flour. Neither of them have baking powder, unless it is "self rising" which means leavening is included.

How do all-purpose flour and self-rising flour differ?

Amount of self rising flour to equal baking soda baking powder?

You can't. Self rising flour has enough baking powder in it for itself. You can't add more flour to it and expect it to work.

Self rising flour is flour with baking powder and salt added to it. It is also finer, therefore it is good for baking because if you use regular flour you have to add the baking powder to it.
