Unprocessed bran is not the same as oat bran; it would be referring to wheat bran. Have you checked at a health food store? They will definitely carry it. As far as subbing the oat bran, it would depend on the recipe.
legumes
I think you mean Bran. Do you? If so, then bran is a derivative from wheat. It is actually the outer layer of the wheat after is is trashed. Bran also makes great fibre for the body.
no its not
Oatmeal and wheat bran are very different products. Because of their different textures, you may need to use more oatmeal than wheat bran. It would not be wise to substitute one for the other without taking the time to make a test batch to determine whether you are pleased with the results.
Wheat bran is slightly lighter in weight, but it shouldn't make that much difference. It probably has a little more of a flavor, but is probably not a big enough factor in any recipe to matter.
Germ is actually short for germination. Referring to the way plants reproduce. The germ is the zygote of the plant. It's where all the DNA instructions is held in the plant. The germ has the most nutrients, it is a small piece at the bottom of the grain. The bran is the thin layer surrounding the endosperm. The endosperm is the part that you eat when you eat white bread or rice. The bran a thin shell, the germ is a separate part at the bottom of the grain piece. The bran has most of the fiber, the germ has alot of the nutrients. The endosperm is the part of the grain which is starch.
Any recipe for dumplings that require flour of any kind can also use whole wheat flour. Simply substitute the whole wheat flower for the same amount of regular flour in the recipe.
Yes. Wheat flour is the same as Plain Flour. Unless recipe calls for whole-wheat flour, that would mean wholemeal flour.
I don't think I would use oat bran cereal in place of oat bran flour. While oat bran cereal will have a high content of oat bran or even oat bran flour, the two are not interchangeable and won't give you the same results.

Wheat is a plant. It grows in the ground. Wheat seeds are called grains. Wheat used in food is either whole wheat, cracked wheat or wheat flour. Whole wheat is the grains of the wheat plant. When whole wheat is crushed, it becomes cracked wheat. When whole wheat is ground into powder, it is wheat flour.
