Yes, but... it isnt a wise idea... with that said, IF you are careful and use a light touch and MINIMAL amount of paint so you dont saturate the liner you are safe... the issue is since the 70s liners are cloth against a thin foam. the cloth tends to let loose. A light coat of paint can at tac to the cloth and adhere it in place, but too much can cause it to let loose. Are you willing to try to see if you have that touch? thats a pretty big gamble... If you take the liner out to do it, you are three quarters of the way to using a spray adhesive on the stripped (of the cloth) liner and recover it with ne material of the color you want...
