Yes but it is best if they are of opposite sex and similar size. Small groups can get along OK provided the aquarium is large enough.
Its hard to keep any fish with Convict.Especially with a breeding pair of convicts.Maybe another species of armored catfish like many species of doradids or talking catfish as they are called.
yes
Bigger fish
He met another man who looked like the convict except he wore a hat.
Win what? be more specific. If you mean in a territorial dispute, an adult fighting fish will get eaten (literally) by and adult convict cichlid. but if the cichlid and the fighting fish are of the same size then the fighting fish would be at an advantage.
It is quite possible that the Convict cichlid would kill a fish as small and slow as a Betta. I would not try to mix other peaceful species with large aggressive fish like Convicts.
Many fish will start to eat another fish if that fish is sick. If your fish's partner is sick, he will eat her until she is dead. I know it's weird, and the only reason I can think of as why they would do that is because they dont want the other one to suffer as much? My fish ate my other fish cuz it was sick.
Mine? Its fine thanks. If you do suspect that something is wrong with your convict cichlid, or if you want to learn how to take care of convict cichlids. Be sure to check the article that I posted in the related links. It helped me raise 3 sets of babies that came from 2 convict cichlids. After reading the article, I successfully raised over 100 convict cichlid babies and believe it or not, all of them are still living in the tank. Its quite a site to see that many cichlids swimming together in a fish tank. But be warned - when convict cichlids are breeding, they get very aggressive. Especially toward any other kind of fish.
The Convict Cichlid sibling fight with each other because of the sibling rivalry.
Oh, at least six-eight months, I think. Depending on how well fed they are. Convict fish are very good parents!
There is no information on a place called Joko Bambang Tjandra. There is a convict by the name of Dkoko Tjandra and another person by the name of Joko Soegiarto Tjandra.
The Convict cichlid (Amatitlania nigrofasciata) is also known as the Zebra cichlid. They will eat the same flakes and pelets that are available for sale in most pet shops. They also enjoy a suplement of live food such as earth worms etc.
