Yes, 17 inch rims will fit.
My Dodge Ram 1500 is in the shop right now for the same thing. They are telling me its the rear differential.
Honestly I have a 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 that came stock with 16 inch tires, I have now put 20 inch rims and tires on my Dodge that came off of the 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 with no problems as far as mounting them. The only issue is if you turn too tightly it will rub slightly on the frame but just make sure not to turn too tightly!Hope this helps!
They sell them now.
how to install a ac housing on a 2007 dodge ram 1500 , mega cab hemi

I believe it's a 5 bolt 5 1/2 spread. I have a dodge now and can't find a decent set of rims.
