It should work fine as long as it all lines up correctly
First thing is count the valve cover bolts. If it has 6 then it is a 302 or 351.The 351W has a taller deck height than the 302. (a 302 will have the intake almost flush with the base of the distributor... where it goes into the block..... a 351w will have about 1/2 inch lip there where the intake meets the block.) The lower thermostat housing bolt on the 302 will be below the top of the water pump and you won't be able to put a socket on it. On the 351W you can remove the bolt with a socket. 351C manifolds are dry, no water passages or thermostat housing....thermostat housing goes into the front of the block. 351w uses 18mm spark plugs and the 351c uses 14mm spark plugs. 351w fuel pump bolts are on left & right sides. 351c fuel pump bolts are on the top & bottom.
No, the 351m has a big block bolt pattern, and the 351w has a small block pattern, this caused some what of a problem for me seeing as I had 5 spd tranny off a 351w that I wanted to put on my 351m.
I had a 69 fastback w/ a302. I put a holley 4brl 650 and was going with 351W heads.I was told a increase of 10hp from the 4brl. I never got the chance to put 351W heads on.So I dont know how hp from the heads. But I think if you could find 351 Clevland heads, you would be be alot better off.Thats what the BOSS 302 basically is.You would need to drill and tap for new oil passages,unfornately...BUT Iam pretty sure that would be it
the 302 flywheel is the same as as the 351.I just converted my 79 van 351 with an automatic tranny to a 5 speed manual from a 302.everything bolted right up.
this one i know thru experience, and a long time to figure it out. but yes a 302 cam will work in a 351.but, u will need to time the engine to 302 timing specs, not to 351 timing specs the same applies if you put 351 cam in a 302
No it would not This is not totally correct, you can drill out the water ports located on the front of the heads block surface just enough to put shallow freeze plugs in them. then drill out the intake surface side to allow water passage through the intake manifold. and last but not least, you will need to purchase an after market intake for a Bogus Boss if your 351 Cleveland heads are the 2brl variety or if your lucky enough to have 4brl heads just find real 302 boss parts to finish out the job. I have done this 2 times and it will make your 302 come alive.
Ford 351 heads. This offers larger valves and better cooling.u can put 351 on a 302 i have done it i have beening working on boats for 12 years and i have put a boat motor in my 78 couger
The 351 was not available in the 68, but the 289 was so just use those mounts, the 351W is a small block and is the same as the 289.
Yes you can.
NO, not even close.
The crankshaft has nothing to do with a short are long block. A short block is everything but the heads and intake. A long block has the heads and intake all ready on it, Its the complete engine. You have to put the heads and intake on the short block yourself. That is the difference.
I am not a Ford man but motor mounts for a 351W engine may be what you want.
