I guess you could put a Betta (Siamese fighing fish) in a sink but you would have to make very sure that there are no detergents etc in there to poison it. They are tropical in the requirements and should be kept at around 78F. 1 Betta needs at least 3 gallons of water (despite what the uninformed/inexperienced say). It should have a permanently running cycled filter and needs to have at least 50% of its water replaced every week.

maybe you can put a non-aggressive fish that if physically provoked by the fighting fish it can defend itself. or fast moving fish like goldfish so it can outrun the fighting fish. when feeding your fishes they usually move quick, putting their mouths above water. however, the betta doesn't. and they can get easily annoyed when other fish bump them. so,I recommend the angelfish.

The male will only put up with a female while he is courting and breeding with her. Once the spawning process is over he will kill her if she is not removed from the tank.
