you don't need a chip on Nintendo ds for anything unless your on a gameboy game on your ds.

No. I do not believe it will work as only supported formats of certains files can be read by the Nintendo DSi. As the files that are supported may be acustomed to the console that the chip or game was designed and made for. So i therefore do NOT reccomned trying it.

it will stay dont worry ^^ its saved on the game chip so it wont reload all data inside the chip it has a x-auto save wich allows to save in that chip u might have to alter the format and compatible wire if it was a gameboy chip though....................... ^^have fun~

No. They have completely different game slot things. one is a UMD and the other is a little square chip thingie. :S

If you turn on an N64 without a game inside you will only get a black screen. Once a game is inside when the game loads a flash can be seen on the screen and you will see the game startup screen.

Most games, I believe. But, The Guitar HeroTM games do NOT fit the DSi.
