Yes, one can do that! One can install another HDD on his/her computer, but for that he/she need to do some provisions for it such as; Enebaling Boot to the previous drive only, formatting the new drive before use (Recommended), Testing RAM for computer (Is Ur machine is able to handle more than on Memory drive)? Etc.

Minimal. In Windows, the only possible benefit is if the paging file and main system files are on a faster drive. This will decrease boot time slightly and make the system (probably imperceptibly) more responsive. In Linux, if you put /usr/bin on a separate drive from /boot, you can easily restore the system without spending time reinstalling applications.
