The iLife '09 software is only available for Apple computers running Mac OS X. It will not work on a computer using the Windows operating system.
The current version iLife '11 requires Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard). The previous version iLife '09 requires Mac OS X 10.5.6 or later.
Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) will not include iLife '09 as this is a separate product. New Macs that come with Snow Leopard installed will have iLife included.
A G4 iMac needs to be running at 867MHz or faster with Mac OS X v10.5.6 Leopard to use most of iLife '09.Neither iMovie nor GarageBand's Learn to Play feature will work as they require an Intel-based Mac with a dual-core processor.
iLife 09 is not legally available for download nor available for free.
imovie
When you download the latest version of iMovie to your Mac, it comes with previous versions. There is no possible way to update it. It is possible to get the latest iMovie in the iLife package or available for Purchase on the Mac App Store. Hope this helps.. :)

The minimum requirement is a G4 running at 867MHz or faster. But a G4 will, depending on instruments used and amount of RAM available etc., struggle with anything more than a couple of tracks in GarageBand.
Snow Leopard is an upgrade to Leopard and so you will need Leopard installed on your Mac before installing Snow Leopard. For Mac computers with an Intel processor running Tiger you will need to purchase the box set that includes iLife 09 and iWork. (See links below)
A new MacBook comes with iLife '09 which includes iPhoto, iMovie, GarageBand, iWeb, iDVD.
