you normally get high cholesterol when you have an unhealthy diet and poor exersise habits, so if you have high cholesterol you are probably already overweight or at risk of being overweight.

however this isn't always the case because cholesterol is also genetic and sometimes even the healthiest diet cannnot change this. if you have high cholesterol, it is extra important to mantain a healthy lifestyle and yes if you are not careful you can gain weight and be at risk for Diabetes.
