No.
First off, check your engine coolant tank. If it's low, then that's the problem. Put more coolant in. If it's at the correct level, then look to see if there's gunk buildup. Second, is your engine overheating? If the engine is not overheating, and there is gunk buildup in the coolant tank, then you may just need to clean the sensor. If there is no gunk in your tank, your coolant level is fine, and your engine is not overheating, then it may be a bad sensor, and you need to replace it.
through the coolant tank!
Coolant recovery tank
As the engine coolant heats up, the coolant expands, so the coolant needs a reservoir or expansion tank to flow in and out of as needed.
"Inside the overflow tank. you get to buy a whole new tank." The switch inside the overflow tank is the coolant level switch. The engine coolant temperature sensor is located on the driver side of the engine near the rear of the engine compartment. by theramonast
Coolant recover tank low or the sending unit on the tank is defective.
There's a plastic overflow tank in the engine compartment that you use to check the coolant level (add and full marks on the tank), and to add additional antifreeze if its low. It typically has a big black lid on the top and is marked showing that its coolant. You can open this with the engine hot to add coolant....do not remove the radiator cap while the engine is hot. Do not mistake the coolant tank with the windshield washer fluid tank. Both are clearly marked.
when you open the hood there will be a yellowish white tank near the top left hand corner of the engine compartment. this is the coolant tank. there will be markings on the side for the levls the coolant should be at when the engine is hot and when it is cold. make sure the coolant you put in is the same colour as the stuff in the tank
If you are looking at the car from the front... The coolant expansion tank (where you add coolant/water) is a large white header tank on the left at the rear of the engine bay. It is to the immediate right of the offside suspension strut.
coolant overflow tank. probably on top left side of engine towards the front.
your coolant tank should be on the pass. side inner fender
Have the coolant changed immediately and you will be ok.
