That depends on your particular policy. Official term you want to look for is something like 'domestic partner - opposite sex'. You need to find a big booklet called Contract (it should be ~100 pages long) preferrably in pdf format and search thru it. Some states mandate such coverage, but most do not. You can always try to cheat and tell them s/he is your spouse, but you know... cheating is not a good thing.
