Absolutely, the picture quality is out of this world compared to basic TV. The sharpness and color seems to be magnified to a much higher and cleared degree. Some people things look better on HDTV then they do in real life.
Sounds is enhanced as well. High definition isn�t limited to just the picture quality. HDTV provides 5.1 channel surround sound so you are getting that much more quality and attention to detail then a ragular 2.1 output.
Watch a sporting event in HD and then you tell me the difference. I remember one World Series you could see a loose thread on one of the pitchers jersey in HD because everything was so clear and impressive. Golf actually I think is the best thing to watch in HDTV. Doesn't seem as boring that way and I really have to give it the camera operators at golf tournaments because they seem to film angles and pictures knowing it is in HD and at a much higher quality.
