No. They are two different transmissions. Another note....a 1997 2.4L Cavalier z24 w/auto transmission will only work with a 1997 2.4L auto transmission. It must be a 1997 transmission. It is the only year like that. Call a salvage yard and check. Yep...go figure

How would you convert a 2008 rav4 automatic transmission awd to a manual?

You would have to replace the transaxle, you would have to cut a hole in the floor for the shift column, you would have to get the engine ECM reflashed, you'd have to install a clutch pedal and all mounting hardware.

How do you replace the automatic transmission on a 1997 Hyundai Elantra?

1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove battery and battery tray 2. Remove the air intake duct and the air cleaner housing 3. Disconnect the transaxle ground cable and the transaxle range sensor 4. Disconnect the transaxle harness connector from the side of transaxle 5. Drain the transaxle fluid then disconnect the transaxle cooling lines 6. Remove the upper transaxle-to-engine mounting bolt 7. Raise the car and support it on jack stands. Secure the engine with a engine support brace or with an engine lift and chain. 8. Remove the transaxle mount bracket 9. Remove the front wheels 10. Remove the bolts from the center member and the transaxle roll stopper 11. Disconnect the lower control arms from the steering knuckle and remove drive axles 12. Remove the transaxle stay followed by the bell housing access cover 13. Remove the torque converter bolts. A screwdriver wedged in the ring gear teeth will keep the torque converter from rotating. Rotate the engine for access to all bolts 14. Support transaxle with transmission Jack to lower transaxle from car 15. Make final check everything is disconnected 16. Remove the mounting and retaining bolts and lower transaxle from the car

i had the same prob on my 96 villager. it was a small nylon gear located on the end of the vss (vehicle speed sensor). the vss is mounted in the transaxle - accessible from the top of the transaxle. my gear was worn out - it cost about $8 at my local ford house - very easy to replace.

Where is the transmission located on a 1990 Mazda 323 and how do you change?

Regardless of whether it's a manual or autoamtic, the transaxle (transmission plus final drive) is located on the left side (as you look forward) of the engine. Unless you have the right tools including an engine hoist or transmission jack, jack stands, and floor jack, it's not a job you want to take on. I assume you are replacing the transaxle with a rebuld or new unit. Plan a whole weekend to do this job. Disconnect the battery, speedometer cable, clutch cable, gear selectro linkage reverse/neutral switch wiring, jack up car, support on stands, remove road wheels, drop the lower control arm bolts, remove the half-shaft nuts, remove the half-shafts (make certain you have a drain pan under the transaxle); remove the starter motor, support the engine, remove the bolts holding the transaxle to the engine, support the transaxle with a floor jack, remove the four bolts that attach the cross-member to the body, pull the transaxle away from the engine and lower the transaxle/crossmember assembly on the floor jack. Dettach the crossmemebr from the transaxle. When reassembling, make certain all componets, wiring etc are clean; if manual transaxle inspect clutch & flywheel replace if needed, re-surface flywheel if needed. Once reassembled, fill transaxle with new fluid per manufacturer's recommedation; retorque all bolts per shop manual. Good luck Malcolm

How do you repair a john deere 212 transaxle?

drop out the transaxle buy the 5 bolts holding it on but to get to those you will have to remove the fender by removing the 4 bolts holding it on, 2 by the engine and 2 by the seat also you will have to remove the pedals and shifting nobes. once you get the transaxle out you could drain the fluid its easiest out because you can get it all out if done right. then loosen all the bolts holding the two half's of the transaxle then take pry bars and work your way around to loosen it and once you get it apart all the gears inside will fall out so you should have a diagram so you know how it goes back together and you do that and connect the sides again and if not all gears slide back into there holes you will have to stand the transaxle up and down in like a round steal tube and take a screwdriver and pry them back into the holes then you just assemble everything back together. make shure you put a new gasket on because the old one is no good once you disassembled the transaxle.

How to change Toyota Paseo transmission fluid?

Assuming it is a manual transmission: Remove the lower drain plug on the transaxle body and allow all existing fluid to drain completely. Replace the drain plug and remove the fill valve, located higher on the transaxle body. You'll need a pump assembly and vinyl hose to pump the transmission fluid into the transaxle. Any good auto parts store sells these plastic pumps at nominal prices. The pump assembly screws onto the top of the transmission fluid bottle. Pump the new oil through the vinyl hose into the transaxle until it begins to come back out of the fill hole. Then screw the fill plug back in. It a very easy process once you've found the drain and fill plugs and get yourself situated underneath the transaxle.

How do you replace a motor mount on a 95 Chevy s10 4-cylinder 22l?

To replace a motor mount on a 1995 Chevy S-10 4-cylinder 2.2L, the engine will need to be hoisted up out of the vehicle until the new motor mount is welded in, if the mount is rusted out. Then lower the engine, keeping it on the hoist until both motor mounts are secured. Then, it will be necessary to hook up all other parts to the motor, like the transmission. If the motor mount is only missing the bolt, then replace the bolt with a new one.
