Yes, but it would be a special high pressure electric pump. FI requires much more pressure than non-FI engines. Automotive speed shops usually carry these pumps. High pressure fuel line rated for fuel injection pressures are also necessary.
In-tank fuel pumps for FI are preferable since that deadens the noise from the pump and also keeps it cooler and is less likely to cavitate.
The fuel pump is the injection pump located next to the alternator and is run by the timing belt.
This is normal for electronic fuel injection.
If you are running the fuel injection....absolutely not. No mechanical pump will provide the fuel pressure needed to run it. I don't even know if the 93 still has the mechanical fuel pump mount. Even if it did, the camshaft wouldn't have the fuel pump eccentric to run the pump.
buy a pump and drain tank only, do not run dry if it's fuel injection
There is no fuel injection pump the fuel pressure going to the injectors should be about 60 PSI then the injector does the rest. There is a high pressure oil pump which provides high pressure oil to the injectors however a switch monitors that and if it is low the engine will not crank or run.
on cars that run with fuel injection it would be the fuel pump, or high performance cars that use electric fuel pumps.
You can start the fuel injector but is going to do nothing without fuel. Without gasoline being pumped to the injector is will not spray fuel and the engine will not run. Every internal combustion engine must have some sort of fuel pump.
check the injector, may be under the intake.
I think your car has fuel injection and the fuel pump isn't working. Listen at the fuel filler and when you turn the ignition on the pump should run for 2 seconds. If not check the relay first then the pump. They are known for bad fuel pumps.
In late 1987 Chevy went to fuel injection fuel system and that requires an electric fuel pump to deliver the correct fuel pressure so the engine will START and RUN. So after 1987 Chevy started putting an ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP inside of the fuel tank on all Vehicles.
There could be a few different reasons why a vehicle would be stalling. Try checking the fuel filter, fuel pump or the injection plug.
buy a Chevy is it a desile or gas
