Vechiles that can run on an ethanol blend (commenly called E85) are already for sale. Most major car companies have models that have that particular feature.

Usually it doesn't run at all once much water gets in the gas. Sometimes it'll spit and sputter and stall and have a pronounced power loss. If your gas has ethanol in it, it can have dissolved water as well as the usual undissolved sort. Dissolved water in the gas just makes it run artificially lean.

FlexFuel means you can run both gasoline and ethanol in the vehicle. Ethanol is corrosive so the fuel system has to be plastics to not corrode in contact with ethanol.

10% ethanol is added to help both emmissions and stretch the gasoline supply further. BUT if you go to Tennessee you have a choice of 100% gasoline or the 10% ethanol mix, i have found the gas mileage actually improves on 100% gas and seems to run a little smoother.I was quite surprised myself.

It really depends on the engine. You shouldn't use ethanol mixed gas in any of them, but really the only one that will give you troubles is the 850. The 850 is very picky about fuel, and poor fuel can make it stumble and not run at all. Run only high-octane, non-ethanol fuel in an 850. The older 500 and 800 engines will run fine on pretty much any pump gas.
