The Brake Booster is mounted on the firewall and the master cylinder is mounted on the booster. Look at the booster and you will see a very large vacuum line coming from the booster.
I have found an easy source to see exploded view items and that is to go to autozone web site. they have an exploded view of almost anything your can think of. Ed Jacksonville NC
Don't know about an exploded view but see if this is of any help: http://www.arbouw.com/Honda/ShortShifter.asp
this is most likely caused by a bad brake booster. hook up a vaccum pump to booster and see if it holds vaccum, if it does, its ok, if it doesnt, its bad. booster is located between firewall and brake fluid resevoir, you will see a large diameter vaccum hose connected to it, this is where to test it at.
Contact the manufacturer.

first off the brake booster is the round bell lookin thing on the outside of the firewall engine side first u are gonna take off the master brake cylinder which is the thing with the resovoir for the brake fluid there should be two bolts dont take off the lines just loosen the bolts and pull the brake cylinder off the booster now on the booster itself there are 4 or 6 bolts loosen them and under the steering wheel u will see the rod that goes to the brake booster take out the cotter pin on that rod and the brake booster will come right out once out take off the rod on the back side of the booster screw it in the new booster and put back on do all ur bolts and u are good to go
Any time the brake pedal is hard to press then you need to check and see if the brake booster is functioning properly.
Normal leak points that are hard to see are inside the rear drums, along the frame, and into the brake booster.Normal leak points that are hard to see are inside the rear drums, along the frame, and into the brake booster.
Check to see if you have knocked the brake light switch off of its mount. It is located above the brake pedal.
you could have a few problems such as air in lines or a bad booster i would bleed the brakes and see if that helps if not check your booster and vacume
go to the Pontiac dealership and see the parts man and he can help you out on that.
