HDMI is a complex interface designed to carry HD video with sound and other data. It cannot be split with a simple connector.
However, there are HDMI splitters or distribution amplifiers available that do the job well. Many electronics stores carry them and numerous on line suppliers stock them as well.
Expect to pay anything from $40 / £30 / €35 upwards. Avoid the very cheapest units but also be aware that expensive models DO NOT deliver better quality images than any other.
I don't think the HDMI signal can be split.
The purpose of an HDMI splitter cable is to take HDMI signal from a source (such as satellite television service) and split that signal to multiple televisions. Such splitter cables are very handy to have when one owns more than one high definition television and wishes to enjoy high definition programming while saving money.
All Cable TV receivers are a little different. Look at the back of the Cable box receiver and you should see a coaxial out (TV out) or a HDMI port (TV out-for HD Programming). If you do not have a HDMI out port on your cable box (you need a HDTV for this as well), you will need to run a coax wire from the Cable TV receiver to your television coax input. In most cases your TV will then be tuned to channel 3 or 4 to receive programming. If you have HD programming with your Cable company and have an HDMI out on your Cable box, you can use an HDMI cord and connect it to your HDMI port on your HDTV. You will then need to tune to the HDMI input to receive programming.
The cable comes out of the wall to the HD converter box and the converter box connects with the HDMI or video cable to the same on the tv set. If the tv has HDMI connector use it. HDMI will give you much better picture than video cable connections.
It is your TV that is saying no signal and not the PS3. When it happens to me it is when the TV is not switched to the correct source. For me this is when the HDTV is still at the PS3 source of HDMI or HDMI-3 plug and not the cable HDMI plug or HDMI-1. It can also happen when you purchase a cheap HDMI cable that stops working or when something is just disconnected from either end of the PS3 A/V or HDMI cable
You have to get an HDMI cable with an HDMI compatible TV. Then split - screen should work.
Make sure your console is connected to your TV via a HDMI cable. Without that specific cable, Minecraft will not allow split screen.
you will lose 3dB of signal level per each split on a passive splitter.
The connect more than 2 TVs to a receiver, you need to splitter to split the signal for the TV to take to another TV. You can get a splitter at Radio Shack. The cable should be a RG6 coax cable. If you want to split TV 1 with anything other than a coax cable you need to get a special splitter for the type cable you are using from the receiver to the TV; RCA, component, or HDMI. HDMI does have a length limitation. When you mirror 2 TVs, the same program is on both TVs; when you change channels it will change both TVs channels.
To play split screen, you must plug your xbox into the tv through HDMI. Online multiplayer is possible with or without an HDMI cable
If you are spliting your own cable in your own home, electronic supply stores sell a cable spliter. If you split the signal too many times, it degrades, and you will have to contact the cable company to have your signal boosted. However, depending on the provider, you may be charged for additional connections. Service from basic cable is controlled by the tuner of your TV or cable box. Spliting a signal after a digital tuner will produce the same channel on every TV after the split.
HDMI cable is characterized by its performance rather than the lay up of the individual cables. The choice of a specific wire gauge makes no difference to the effectiveness of the cable. An approved and licensed HDMI cable will work flawlessly if it connected to licensed HDMI outputs and inputs. On the same note, expensive HDMI cables cannot deliver better quality images than cheap ones. The nature of HDMI signals means that the signal is either properly received by a television or not. There is no gradual loss of quality before the signal fails.
