no- if you connect a battery the wring way round you will short the battery
on a modern car you may damage the ECU
It means you probably fried the electronics.
You can buy and adaptor to connect the top post cables to a side post battery. Or you can simply replace the side post cables with top post cables.
Buy a new battery to start off with then you will have to either change the battery cables to sidepost type mounts or buy sidepost type mounts and install them on your old cables.
Sounds like dirty battery cables. Remove cables from battery and clean battery post and inside of cables. When these get dirty the resistance builds up an alt. Thinks battery is charged. After cleaning you may have to jump to start. Other cause could be the alt, and or battery
Bad connection between the cable end and the battery post or a dead cell in the battery. When you jump a battery, the jumper cable is attached to the battery cable, not the battery itself. Clean the post, either top or side and the ends of the cables and try charging again. If it will not take a charge, it is a bad battery.
It is as simple as changing the battery cables.
Connect jumper cables from the positive battery post, on your BMW, to the positive battery post on the charged every. Connect the ground together. Allow the battery to charge for a minimum of 10 minutes.
If you reverse the battery cables, yes the battery can possibly explode.
On a car battery, the cables attach to two metal posts which stick up on the top of the battery.
Replacing battery terminals??? How did you accomplish that. Do you mean you replaced the battery or are you referring to the battery cables? If you replaced the cables are you sure you have them connected correcty and tight. Especially the ground connection. Take a reading with an ohm meter from the neg battery post to the engine or chassis. If the circuit is open, you have a bad connection.
You can jumpstart your BMW 328 by connecting jumper cables to your battery and to the battery of another vehicle. Connect the red handles to the positive post, on each battery. Connect the black handles to the negative posts, on each battery. Start the working automobile to charge the nonworking battery.
