Verizon often allows a 30 day window to make changes to add/remove coverage via insurance or extended warranty. If your phone was purchased brand new, it comes with a one year manufacturers warranty at no additional charge.
One year unless you purchase the extended warranty. All warranty voided if phone is dropped in water. Beware of the "buddy" clause, if you loan your phone to your buddy while it is still in warranty and it "quits" then you will be out a phone. According to Verizon once the phone leaves your plan it is no longer covered.

You mean you want to use your tmobile phone on Verizon network? No you can't. Verizon is CDMA and tmobile is GSM network, so your phone won't work on Verizon netwok
Yes, if it is still under the one year manufacture warranty it is covered as long as it is a shallow scratch. If it is a deep scratch that points to customer damage then the warranty is void. The best way to find out is to take it into a corporate store with techs and have them check it out.

There has been no official announcement, by Apple or by Verizon to have the iPhone on Verizon's network. AT&T still has exclusivity on the iPhone for a number of years.
It is not possible to use your cell phone if your phone is turned off. However, if the question means if you are no longer a Verizon customer and still have the phone with no SIM Card, than yes, you can still use your phones Wi-Fi even though you can not make calls.
No, I don't think you get a free phone with any verizon prepaid plans. You'd still have to pay for the phone although I doubt it would cost much to buy.
You should report this to the phone company. If you still have a warranty on it you can get it replaced. If not then it is probably dead.

For Verizon it is about 10$ but there is still taxes
