It might depend on the specifics of the misdemeanor and what consideration is given to the misdemeanor by the entity which certifies Psychologists. If you don't by chance still "live" with your mother at the Bates Motel, you have a pretty good shot at becoming certified. Be honest about the misdemeanor with those who need to know such things and you'll probably find out that most folks appreciate honesty more than they disapprove of misdemeanors. P.S. It might make for a good Psychological study to record the events of your becoming certified. Good Luck. Elthron

How long is the statute of limitations on a misdemeanor in Washington state?

I have a friend who received a misdemeanor in a case about 6-7 years ago that was dismissed, but he had court fines to pay and it is still showing up on his record. How long does this contiue to show up on his record for employment and other issues? He was wrongly accused of disaplening(Spell check) his child and the child reported him doing something more than what really happened, but the COPS said otherwise so it all turned on him and he got a misdemeanor charge against him and it was overturned by not only the legal courts, but the family courts. It still shows on his record a misdemeanor that he has to explain every time it is brought up. Please tell me this has a time limitation on it!

Does a misdemeanor go on your record?

Very serious! Here's a few things to consider: * companies can fire you at any moment without any prior notice if they find out that you have a conviction--if you did not include it on your application. * the law actually allows companies to deny you a job based solely on the reason that you were arrested. * your criminal record is available to anyone and by that we don't mean only your employer but also your co-workers. * landlords and public housing authorities can deny you housing based solely on your criminal record.

Removing a misdemeanor off your record in Washington state?

Present a petition/motion to the court requesting, and giving good reason, why your record should be 'expunged.' It can only be done after the successful completion of your sentence and, if it is even granted, it does not mean you were 'pardoned.' Altho the public may not have access to it, your record will still be available to law enforcement and the courts.
