Yes, I understand that certain states (Texas, Michigan, California) have state laws that prohibit original creditors from calling you once you have addressed them in the proper manner.
No. If you file bankruptcy, you are basically telling the creditors that you don't have any funds to pay them. Your finances are being held by the court and the lawyers will tell the creditors that you filed bankruptcy. You are still responsible for the debt. WRONG! If you file bankruptcy and file a chapter 7, if the judge approves your appeal all your credit card debts are erased, and creditors have to stop calling and harassing you. If you file a chapter 13, you are still responsible for a certain portion of your debt, to be paid over a 5 year period, and creditors have to stop calling and harassing you.
Stop Calling Me was created in 2001.
Stop Calling
Stop calling
Tell the creditor in a firm voice "DO NOT CALL THIS NUMBER AGAIN". It is a violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act for them to continue to call you. They can be cited for it. Ask to speak to a supervisor.
Send them a certified letter demanding that they stop, and further demanding that they only contact you via the mail. Advise them that they will be in violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act if they do so.
simply and politely say stop calling me and tell the reason why.
People who are older than you will never stop calling you young.
One option is to send the creditors/collection agencies a cease-and-desist letter. It should be sent by certified mail. After it is received, the collector must stop contacting the requesting party. This action does not pertain to the original creditor--only collection agencies. OCs do not have to follow the FDCPA. The party involved also has the option of having an attorney remit letters to creditors explaining the debtor's situation. Once a creditor or collector has been notified that legal counsel has been obtained, they can only contact the debtor with the debtor's permission. This option does apply to both original creditors and third-party collection agencies.
A guy is likely to be upset and even angry if you stop calling him. However, he will most likely forgive you if you explain to him why you were not calling.
The debtor should cease payment of creditors when they decide they are going to file for bankruptcy.
Tell them to stop calling you. If they continue, be sure to report them to the attorney general's office in your state. Continuing to call you after you requested a stop is considered harassment, AND YOU DONT HAVE TO TAKE IT! :)
