It depends on the engine size You know 3.8L, 5.0L it really matters......Are you going with the same size or not ? (REPOST WITH THE DETAILS)
It's a 2.5L, and want something BIGGER ...?
the only sizes that fit are the 2.0 zetec, 2.5 duratec, 3.0 duratec on the sable, taurus, and some escapes depends on the years.. go to newcougar.org for information they have a how to for that and the engines that fit.
you should be able to.the only thing that might be different is the wiring harness
Bascially they are the same engine.
It should with minimal problems fit. There were some slight changes to the Duratec engine in the cougar between the '00 and '01 model years, including a better, and easier to replace alternator. but a straight swap shouldn't be too hard. Another thing you can do is a swap from a Ford Contour or Mercury Mystique. or if you want some more power and are willing to go through some trouble to get it working right, the 3.0 liter duratec out of the sable, taurus, and escape vehicles of similar years provides a nearly drop in fit with substantially increased power.
Yes, you can swap a 4.6-liter engine from a 1996 Cougar into a 1992 Cougar that originally has a 3.8-liter engine, but it will require significant modifications. You'll need to address compatibility issues with the engine mounts, transmission, wiring harness, and possibly the ECU. Additionally, ensuring that the cooling system and exhaust components are compatible will be essential for a successful installation. It's advisable to consult with a mechanic experienced in engine swaps for guidance.
Trucks - 1999 6 Liter LS Truck Engine Swap was released on: USA: January 2013
nono
If you are swapping the Vulcan OHV engine, it will work without issue. If you are attempting to swap the Duratec DOHC engine, it will bolt in, but the computer will not be capable of running the engine.
Yes, you can swap a 1991 Mercury Capri 1.6 engine for a 2.5 engine, but it may require modifications. You'll need to ensure that the transmission, engine mounts, and wiring harness are compatible, which might involve custom fabrication or additional parts. Additionally, consider the differences in the engine's performance characteristics and emissions requirements. It's advisable to consult with a professional mechanic for a successful swap.
The answer is no. Not same engine either. 91 couger has a 5.0 (if its a v8) and a 3.8 (if its v6). a mark viii will only bolt up to a 4R70W transmission. A 91 couger does not come with a 4.6 ( The 4.6 Was not released until 1994)
The Ford Contour and Mercury Mystique here in the USA used the same spec motors, and in europe, the Mondeo used the same motors from the early '90s till around 2002. You can also mount a 3.0L duratec from a Taurus, Sable, or Escape, though the swap process is a little daunting for most people.
automatic or manual doesnt matter because that's talking about the tranny. ONLY swap a camshaft if its the EXACTsame engine.
yes you can swap a 2.5 in to 2.7 but u will loose some power from
