Citalopram is used to treat depression. Citalopram is in a class of antidepressants called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). It works by increasing the amount of serotonin, a natural substance in the brain that helps maintain mental balance.
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember it. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

Why would you double dose? 700mg would be a large dose! If you miss a dose take it as soon as you remember then take the next dose at the normal time. Unless you are already close to the next time you should take it. Then just wait. I would never double dose a medication. Talk to your doctor if it is not working for you.
If you are referring to coming off the antidepressant Celexa (generic name citalopram), then the answer is as follows: Typically, the dose is gradually lowered so that withdrawal effects are kept to a minimum. The exact time required to come off Celexa depends on one's current dosage, and several other factors. However, the term "titrate" is usually applied to finding the correct dosage for a person being put on Celexa. In this case, the doseage is gradually rasied to find a level which produces the desired theraputic results with the least side effects.
