∙ 12y agoYes. Benzodiazepines do not work on the same neurotransmitter system that SSRIs do. Your risk for an adverse drug interaction is variable, but the probability is low.
Two words of caution, however. Always check with your doctor before taking or changing your medication, and never drink alcohol while taking a benzodiazepine. These drugs DO work on the same neurotransmitter systems and often potentiate each other's effects. This can lead to respiratory depression or failure, coma and death.
