I have. I have completely taped and envelope for fear my envelope may tear and my letter/ personals fall out. Mailman hasn't complained yet and I've don't this several times.

Can you put tape over a postage stamp?
You can NOT. It voids the postage, and the item will likely be returned to you. (Otherwise, the postmark could just be wiped off the tape, and the stamp reused.)

Not really, though it is possible it might go through. It would fit the definition of irregular shape. It would mess up the mail handling machines and would probably rip the envelope and they would get lost. A padded envelope or small box would be better. Answer Put it in a sturdy envelope or cardboard envelope--or wrap it with a piece of cardboard. Mark the envelope to "hand stamp only." You might wrap the envelope with clear packing tape, too.

You could do that. However, the tape is likely to ruin the stamp. Most collectors use an item called a hinge, a small piece of thin paper with glue on it. Hinges can be peeled off the stamp without damaging it. And the stamp is usually 'soaked' off the paper using cool water.
