Occasional misfire is inconsistant on a 1999 camaro 3.8l replaced maf o2's coils pcv plugs wires fuel pump filter cleaned intake exhaust pressures ok what else could cause the problem?

AnswerWhat is the computer saying? Have you run a diagnostic test?Well if it is saying cylinder misfire, then its two things, needs new plugs and wires, and coil pack, so test to see if ur coil packs are working. So if the test is saying for example cylinder 5 misfire, check the coil pack for cylinder 5. You know how to test the coil packs, Take off the plug wire of the coil pack one at a time, so just take of cylinder 5 wire from the coil pack and start the car if the pack is good you should be able to see the spark of the coil pack. if nothing its bad...thats a 30.00$ fix.Hope this helps..This happen to mine.

Why is there no spark on a 1993 Subaru Impreza?

Check that battery has power. Check that coil pack has power and is grounded. Ground out one spark plug and see if there is any spark. If there is no spark, then it is either a fuse or your coil pack is bad. Rule out that the coil pack is good and that your spark plug wires are bad. Test them all individually. Don't get shocked by the 20K volts from the ignition, it really hurts.

How do you test - repair - replace the coil pack - ignition control module on a Windstar?

Coil packs can be checked for resistance with an ohm meter. If the pack is breaking down due to load or heat problems then the only way to check is to change it out. If the Windstar is a two pack model then you can swap the packs to see if the problem follows the cylinders that the possibly bad coil pack are now controlling.

How do you test a ignition coil pack on a 2003 Chevy silverodo?

I found the easiest way to do this is read the codes, if it is reading a misfire on one cylinder, then swap that coil pack with one of the other cylinders coil packs, then you will have to clear the codes and drive it, then see if it throws a new code on a different cylinder.

How do you test a coil pack for a 1996 GTI VR6 volks wagon?

I've run into the same problem before. I've been told many of times to just have the car turned on and get a spray water bottle and spray over the coil pack, if you get sparks, you've got a bad coil pack. Either way if you coil pack is faulty, do what I did the smart and cheap way. Go to any hardware store, buy "JB Weld" or some sort of that kind, take out the coil pack, and just fill in whatever cracks you see around the coil pack plug entrance wires.

How do you test 2004 Nissan Sentra coil packs?

I figured this same thing out by moving the coil pack around. Leave the plugs in place and try it on different cylinders to see if you get spark. I had been fighting to solve my issue, and turns out it was a $50 fix to replace a bad coil pack that misfired on three different cylinders.

Where is the coil pack on 2000 Lincoln 4.6 liter engine?

There is no "coil pack", but actually there are eight individual coils. You can determine the mis-firing coil by accessing the on-board computer and replace the defective coil,or just replace the boot and see if this cures the problem. The replacement boot is about $5 and the replacement coil is $50, more or less at your local parts house. Good luck!!

Missfire on a sharan?

If it is a VR6 engine it might be a cracked coil pack. You can check this by spraying a mist of water over the coil pack while the engine is running. If there are cracks sparks will run on the outside of the coil pack. If you do this while it is dark the sparks are often easy to see.

How do you test the coil pack on a 2002 Chevy Impala and replace it if necessary?

Use a scanner to see which cylinder(s) has the misfire if its two that are fired by the same coil then replace the coil if its just one its probably a bad plug or wire The coils are unbolted by using a 5.5 mm socket

Where is the coil pack on 1999 delta 88?

Just follow your spark plug wires. They will all meet up at the coil pack. You may have to remove the engine cover on some vehicles to see it.

How do you know which coil is bad on a 99 Monte Carlo if the car has a coil pack?

AnswerLightly spray the exhaust manifold with water as the engine is running A good cylinder will evaporate the water quickly The misfiring cylinder will not. Replace the coil at the other end the spark plug wire from the bad cylinder You can remove the suspect coil and switch it with a good coil and see if the two cylinders that were firing are now misfiring and the two that were misfiring are now firing. If the coil pack is not working correctly then your car will be sluggish and should throw a misfire trouble code (check engine light). Usually only one coil will fail at a time. You can have the code scanned at autozone for free. They will also test your coils if you have them off the car. Always check your plugs and wires first before replacing the coil.

If a 1991 Chevy Corsica is not running well how do you check to see if it is the coil pack?

The coil packs are attached to the plug wires. Coil packs are interchangable so when I suspect a bad one, I switch the one next to it to see if the problem moves to the other two cylinders. You can also use a inexpensive spark plug tester that clips on to the wire to see how the coil pack is firing thru the plug wire.
