Dogs bark. It is not a bad thing. They bark for different reasons and it is never ok to forbid them to bark. That is how they express themselves. The same way human being talk, dogs bark. Its a problem when the dog barks excessively. That's when you have to make him stop and teach him not to do it. I don't have the magic formula, but I control my dog excessive barking by telling her "ENOUGH!". Make sure than when you ask your dog to stop barking, you ask him AFTER he is done barking. When he gets quiet, pet him and give him a treat so he could understand that you like it when he does NOT bark and tht he will get nice reward if he does shut up. Do not EVER scream STOP while she is barking because she will think you are barking with her and will not understand that she has to stop..

Sometimes, but it take a lot of work.

You must always tell them 'Good boy or Good girl' when every there not barking.

Also some dogs are born with no bark sometimes like humans are born with no voice sometimes. It's very difficult and takes about 2 years! Good luck!

All dogs can be trained not to bark.

At the moment your pup thinks that crying and barking gets them out or attention, which it does, which in turn means they can dictate when you get up and of course they want you with them your pup loves you!

So you have to ignore which is a process call extinction. What that means is you will have to endure an extinction burst (behaviour will get worse before it gets better) so the pup will be whining pretty loudly for a night or two before it goes away. http://www.teachingpuppies.com/stop-my-puppy-whining-barking-and-crying Crying also arises from boredom so see http://www.teachingpuppies.com/ways-to-entertain-a-bored-puppy

Sort of, the longer you have a dog the more it gets used to you so it will bark less.

Yes. When your dog barks, wait for them to be quiet. The instant they stop barking, say "quiet" and reward them with a dog treat. Over time, your dog will associate being quiet with a reward, and eventually stop barking.

How does a bark control system train a dog to stop barking?

Bark control systems usually have a microphone that detects when the dog barks. When it detects the bark, it does something uncomfortable to the dog, such as a high-pitched whistle or a small shock. THen the dog associates barking with the painful sensation and learns not to bark.

How do you train your dog to guard you and your house?

usually you don't have to train a dog to be protective it already is, i didn't have to train my dog and it is a great watch dog. I agree. Usually dogs have a natural sense of "Hey! This is my territory; get out!", so they'll just bark and bark at someone. Usually. But if your dog doesn't do that, then he/she either trusts humans too much (not that that's a bad thing) to bark at them, or he/she doesn't really care.

How do you train a dog to not bark when the door bell rings?

The key to training a dog to do anything is repetition. If your dog is one of the few that doesn't bark when someone knocks, don't worry. You should be able to train him or her to do so in a short amount of time. The first thing you need to do is train your dog to speak on command. A simple way of doing this is to restrain your dog, in a safe way, of course, and call his or her name. When they get frustrated because they can't get to you, they will bark. Once they bark, you need to immediately praise him or her and give a treat. Continue this until you can get the dog to speak without being constrained. Then, use the speak command when someone knocks at the door. You may want to get someone to help you for this part. Every time the dog barks at the knock on the door, give praise by you and your helper. Your dog will quickly learn to bark when someone knocks.

How can you train your dog to bark?

This is actually VERY VERY simple to teach a dog. Don't attempt to try and train it this before avout 6 months or it will bark ALL THE TIME. If you have a small dog you need treats and a toy but if you have a big dog usually a toy will do it. What you do is you get them all excited about playing with a toy. after about 2 minutes of waiting the dog might bark. When it barks say speak. Do this for about 30 minutes a day. No less then 15 or the dog will forget. after a week or so get rid of the toy and just tell it to speak. If it does not reply to the command, do it with a toy again for a day or so. If the dog barks when it wants attention, ignore it. It will think that if it barks when not spoken to, it will get attention. DO NOT give it what it wants or it will become very greedy. After about 2 or three weeks of doing this, your dog should bark when told. Hope it works. It worked for all my dogs
