The US Government Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued an update to their advisory that suggested all non-essential travel to Mexico should be suspended. This is the statement they subsequently published:
May 18, 2009 CDC on travel to Mexico...
"Our main advice now is for those people who are at risk of complications from influenza because of underlying illness, pregnancy, or advanced age, that they ought to check with their health care provider before embarking on a trip...We do think it's fine for most people to travel to Mexico at this point."
I recommend travel medicine.
Tell them to get travel medicine.
yes they must have passports due to the outbreak of swine flu
Yes, there were several US State Department advisories about travel to Mexico during the early stages of the pandemic. We had many questions about that on WikiAnswers as well. Many questions we received were from people who had vacations scheduled in Cancun, and other Mexican destinations, wondering if they should cancel their trips. There was universal concern about travel, not only to Mexico, but to the US and Canada as well, especially at the very beginning of the epidemic in Mexico and as it spread into the US and Canada.
During the outbreak, me and my family had to cancel our holiday to Peru as the cases were increasing. We thought that canceling the holiday would be for the best as we didnt want to risk catching Swine flu. >>> I definitely did. I didn't want to travel anywhere as much as possible because I was afraid of catching the flu. >>> I have booked a ticket to Italy but I had flu at that time, I was coughing and sneezing so they didn't let me fly because they were afraid it could be swine flu.
The initial outbreak was called the "H1N1 influenza", or "Swine Flu"
the swine flu
the swine flu will end this summer
4-7 months
Because of the swine flu outbreak, the school closed for several days. The daycare has had very low attendance due to a chicken pox outbreak.
Alabama has had about 150 probable/confirmed cases of H1N1 (swine flu) from http://www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/update.htm
Here's a photo and info of the actual virus: http://www.ehow.com/how_4932177_proactive-swine-flu.html Kathy
