Using an undersized power supply is not a good idea. The device drawing 850 mA being connected to a 800 mA source will work but the adapter will get warm to hot over a period of time. This overloading of the power supply will eventually destroy the adapter.

It might work, but it depends on how much current the device draws. It's similar to using weak batteries. The volume might not go as loud, or the lights might not be as bright, but it might work. It certainly won't hurt it.

If the power source is 9V 800mA and the load if 9V 500mA then yes. An appliance will only draw as much current as it needs.

No, the 100mA adapter is too small. The adapter that can be used has to be at least 500mA or larger.

What will happen if use a 12v 400ma instead of 12v 500ma?

i am not sure, BUT according to the answer in this post:Can_you_use_a_9V_600mA_adapter_on_a_9V_400ma_scanneryou need an adaptor of 9v and AT LEAST 500mA (assuming that the appliance draws 500mA)

Can you use a universal ac adaptor set at 9v 400mA for a portable radio set at 9v 800mA?

No. Your portable radio needs 800mA to operate. Your adapter can only produce 400mA. If you make the connection the adapter will rapidly heat up and probably burn out.

Can you use a 12VCD 500mA instead of a7.5V 800mA AC power adapter?

Yes you can. But it may damage your computers power supply.

Will 9v 1100mA power adapter work with your 9v 500mA device?

Yes, a 9v 1100mA power adapter work with your 9v 500mA device. The mA number is the maximum amount of amperage that the adapter will produce without overloading itself. At 500 mA the adapter will only be working at half load.

Is it ok to use a 4.5v 800mA AC adapter for a device when the original adapter is supposed to be 4.5V 500mA - will it damage the device?

Yes. As long as the voltage is the same which it is. The 800mA is the capacity that the transformer can produce safely without going into an overload state. Your original adapter was rated at 500mA which means that what ever device was plugged into it draws less that 500mA. You might notice that the new adapter is slightly physically larger. So you are safe to use the new adapter with the higher rating.

What adapter has more power the 9v 600ma or the 9v 800ma?

The capacity of the 800 mA adapter is 200 mA larger than the 600 mA adapter.

Can any 9v 500mA adapter replace any other 9v 500mA adapter?

No. There is a 50/50 chance it will work. Check the polarity on the label. Some adapters have the positive on the outside sleeve of the plug, others use the center portion. The device may be labeled, or use Google to locate the correct adapter for it. If you use a plug with the wrong polarity it might fry your device.

Can you use a 9v dc 500mA AC adaptor for a 9v 35mA guitar wah wah pedal?

Yes you can, as the pedal draws only 35 mA, which is less than the maximum current the supply is capable of delivering.

Can you use a 9v dc 1000ma adaptor for a device that has 'power input' of 15v dc 800ma?

A: Disregarding the fact of different voltages there is the power to be concerned 9v x 1A = 9W, 15V X .8 = 12W. THE DEVICE WILL BE UNDER POWER.

Can you use a 9V 600mA adapter on a 9V 400ma scanner?

You can use any 9v adapter as long as the output amperage is rated higher than the amperage rating of your appliance so yes a 600ma adapter can be used to power a 500ma or 400ma appliance
