Mercron transmission fluid is used in a 1978 Ford Thunderbird. Type F fluid can also be used but should not be mixed.
It is important to know the types of fluids to put in a car. A 1995 Ford Taurus will use regular Mercon transmission fluid.
Use a tranny funnel and add through the dipstick tube.
The 1995 is a 4R55E ( electronically controlled transmission ) and the 1991 to 1994 Explorers use an A4LD automatic transmission
i think it was in rangers too
I don't know if the 1995 is the same , but the ( 1996 ) Ford Aspire uses Motorcraft MERCON automatic transmission fluid in the manual trans-axle ( manual transmission )
Use Mercon ATF.
it should as long as you use the 92's computer and harness
On a 1995 Ford Ranger ( North America models ) The 5 speed manual transmission takes : ( 2.8 U.S. quarts of MERCON automatic transmission fluid ) * transmission code " M " *
10-30 is fine. I live in a hot climate so I use 20-50W
look in the manual
5W-30 is the preferred oil , according to the 1996 Ford Thunderbird Owner Guide
Remove the transmission dipstick and read what it says on the stick, it will tell you what fluid to use.
For a 1994 Ford Thunderbird : ( DOT 3 brake fluid , meeting Ford specification ESA-M6C25-A )
On a 1995 Ford Explorer ( automatic transmission ) You use a funnel and add transmission fluid through the dipstick tube ( it is located in the engine compartment , by the firewall , towards the passenger side of the vehicle , where the transmission is bolted to the rear of the engine )
R134A, but under NO circumstances should you use any that has stop leak as it will ruin a shops equipment and not do well in your system.
My Haynes repair manual for the Ford Explorer ( 1991 thru 1995 ) shows MERCON automatic transmission fluid in the automatic transmission
Transmission fluid is fine...dextron III
can you use a transmission from a 1993 ford ranger in a 2000 ford ranger?
My 1991 Mustang 5.0 LX came from the factory with ( 5W-30 ) I ASSUME your Ford Thunderbird would be the same
The Ford Bronco transmission can use any SAE certified transmission fluid. Ford transmissions manufactured before 1979 will need an F type transmission fluid.
If it's a 351w , yank the 3.8 and bolt the 351 right in..change the computer and you can run injection..the 5.0 comp and harnes can fit..!
You use regular automatic transmission fluid in the 5-speed manuals. ----------------------------- MERCON ATF
Do it yourself, use platinum tipped plugs so you won't have to replace them often. http://www.marksatterfield.com
