I wouldn't use chocolate chips in a fountain because there's a lot of stuff in them to make them hold together at high temperatures. If you go to somewhere like Michael's you can get "candy melts" that will be better.

if you want to coat the cake ball, no bakers chocolate will not set hard, use candy coating. Wilton makes them. Also in the states they sell something called "bark" it is in the baking section, same as candy melts. Yes, I have used bakers chocolate for coating. You CANNOT use liquid food coloring---that will ruin the candy. You CAN use a paste or power food coloring purchased at a craft store like Michaels, Joannes etc or a cake/candy supply store. Also some gourmet cooking stores will have the right coloring. You can also buy candy melts from the same type of stores. They have red and pink candy melts. Also seen candy melts at Walmart in the craft/sewing section of the store.
