No, powdered sugar is mixed with cornstarch, wheat flour, or calcium phosphate to improve its flowing ability, which are harmful to hummingbirds. However, industrial grades without these additives are available, but good luck finding them.

No, Do not use powder sugar in your homemade hummingbird food. Powdered sugar has corn starch in it to keep the sugar from clumping. The corn starch can quickly cause the sugar to ferment once you add it to the water. This can make humminbirds very sick and die. ALSO do NOT use brown sugar or turbinado sugar. They contain extra iron that is also very bad for the hummingbirds. ONLY USE GRANULATED WHITE SUGAR with zero additives. It should also go without saying not to use artificial sweetner, I only mention this because people have asked.

Can I use Raw sugarwith out molasses for hummingbird nectar?

Yes. I have done this several times, and the hummingbirds loved it. Just make sure that the sugar has completely dissolvedbefore you put it out for the birds. Because of their size, a hummingbird could easily choke on a grain of sugar if it was not dissolved.

Can you use light brown sugar instead of regular brown sugar?

I really dont understand the question here, but both regular white sugar as well as light brown sugar is used in baking, it just depends on the recipe. Light brown sugar has less of the "molasses" flavour than darker brown sugar. Both of them can and are used in baking. There are a number of "grades" or "darknesses" of brown sugar and as the colour darkens the flavour becomes more intense. If your recipe needs the punch of a darker sugar then go ahead and use it. The colour has no effect other than taste in baking.
