Can you use raw sugar in a cookie instead of caster sugar?

Caster sugar is similar to powdered or confectioner's sugar in the U.S. which may be substituted without problem. Raw sugar would need to be processed in a spice or coffee grinder or in a food processor until very fine and powdery before being substituted for caster sugar.

What can be Demerara granulated and caster?

Demerara sugar is unrefined, usually somewhat coarse but dry sugar. It is not brown sugar, which has clumps together. It is pale golden in color and can be called either raw sugar or turbinado sugar in the States. Caster sugar is a very fine grade granulated sugar, most often used for baking as it causes cakes to rise better, or for putting on fruits and berries as it melts faster. It is sometimes sold as berry sugar.I recently bought some demerara sugar which was ground up to caster grade. It worked very well and was delicious in a lemon cake. You can make your own caster sugar by whirling up granulated in a blender.

What do you do after you broiled your cake instead of baked?

A cake that was broiled instead of baked - by accident one must assume - would need to be thrown out, because the top would be burned and the interior raw.

Are raw materials and product the same?

No. Raw materials are the materials that make up the product before anything is done to them; i.e. they are the materials that you start with. So for example, if I wanted to make a cake, the flour, sugar and eggs would be the raw materials; and the cake would be the product.

How do you get caster sugar from raw sugar?

Castor sugar may not be easy to find, but it is easy to make. In fact, it's really nothing more than granulated sugar that has been ground to a super fine consistency. Here's what you need: Granulated Sugar Blender or Food Processor Place granulated sugar in food processor or blender Pulse until it reaches a super-fine, but not powdery consistency Allow to settle for a few minutes. Then use in place of the castor sugar called for in your recipe.

What is the difference between caster sugar and refined sugar?

Caster sugar granules are smaller than refined sugar granules. It's basically crushed white sugar. And then, icing sugar is even smaller than castor sugar. In the UK refined means white sugar of any shape, form or description, although the word is almost never used in connection with sugar. Castor sugar is a very small grit that is used mostly for cooking - being finer it is easier to incorporate it into cake mixtures etc. - it can be brown or white although fine brown sugars are more usually called soft.

Do you use the same amount of raw sugar as you do white sugar?
