I believe you could....according to the Haynes Repair Maual for 1993-2005 Rangers, the SOHC 4.0L engine is a standard 4.0L engine found in Rangers and Explorers. actually , the 4.0 L SOHC wasn't used in the Ford Ranger until 2001 , before that Ford used the 4.0 L OHV engine
The engine cylinders are numbered 1 , 2 , 3 on the passenger side of the engine going from front to back and 4 , 5 , 6 on the driver's side of the engine going from front to back . (The middle cylinder on driver's side ) - Helpfull
