You might be able to volunteer, but most likely they will let you come in for a day to follow a worker around. The problem with allowing you to work there is you are a minor and it would be against labor laws. Also the insurance company they use probably won't let you work and if a dog bit you or a cat hurt you they could be sued by your parents. I got to spend an afternoon in the kitten room at the SPCA when they had let them play free in the room. Maybe you could do something like that.
