In the U.S. you can only buy a handgun within the state where you officially reside. You can have a handgun shipped from another state to the state where you are and pick it up at a gun shop within your home state (this is called a transfer). I doubt Canadian law will allow a local gun shop to ship a handgun to a person in Canada, however, I admittedly know very little about Canadian law.
