on my 87 Chevy caprice just happen today, my car would idle for a while then die. Turns up my carb was bad. Changed the carb, ran like new again.
the engine runs at a faster rate than when the idle speed is lower.
Sounds like you have abad vacuum leak,Or a bad idle control motor. Check vac leaks first.
More than likely it's your Idle Control Valve.
System Idle Process is what your computer does while your computer is idle. It does nothing for you or against you. And no, there's no way to use it other than making your computer go idle.
More than likely the transmission has gone into overdrive.
No, you may have to check your idle. You can change the idle so when you put it into gear it will not die. You must make sure that the engine is warm when you adjust the idle or it may make it hard to start when the engine is cold. When it idles in park or neutral it should sound a little higher than when it it idles in gear or drive or reverse.
Hey Jonathan==It varries between cars. If your car is later than about 1986 it is computer controled and you cannot change it. Sometimes if the idle speed solonoid is bad or dirty, the idle will be wrong. Goodluck, Joe A vacuum leak will also cause idle quality issues.
More than likely ignition timing..
depends on how long it is between runs, and how cold it is outside. Unless you're in the arctic, shut it off if the stop is longer than a minute.
more than likely it is your alternator, have it tested.
Check your fuel off / on swich. Pull the to screws out and check the filters.
When the car is at idle, the air conditioner works just as hard as when the car is moving. When the car moves, the engine gets very hot. so the air conditioning works better when your at idle because it doesn't have to cool the heat from the engine.
