Stop or slow down? It sounds like a loose/worn suspension.
I have 98 4 cyliner automatic Toyota Camry. When I'm coming to a red light, and when I'm braking, the car begins to shake, and the shake doesn't stop even when the car is stopped. Howeverif i switch the transmission from drive to neutral, the car stops shaking. If I switch back to Drive or reverse, it car starts to shake again. What could be wrong?
Nobody could answer that question without looking at your car. One of the possibilities is that your car is overheating. Check the coolant. By the way, if this is the case, and you are driving your car without coolant, stop driving right now because your car is in danger of being irreversabely ruined forever.
You might need to get your tires balanced, or you may need some front end work done. Getting your tires balanced is the less expensive of the two though so I would try that first.
some of the classic signs of a tranny going bad is leaking, slipping in and out of gear delayed starts from a stop where the car raises rpms before it takes off and shaking or jerking when its going into gear
Absolutely it can! What is happening is when the transmission is trying to unlock the torque converter and downshift to a stop, it isn't coming unlocked, and thus the engine is still locked to the wheels, like not pushing the clutch on a manual. You can avoid this hopefully by putting the transmission into neutral when coming to a stop, or try tapping the gas when the shaking starts to see if you can force it unlocked. See your Jeep or local auto shop to have them look at it. They may possibly need to replace the entire torque converter. . (This is from personal experience with the 32RH Transmission in a 99 Jeep Wrangler)
If your car is shaking while it is idling, it is most likely your automatic choke. The automatic choke is not operating correctly but if you remove the choke and put a lubricant on it, it should stop shaking.
Wheels need to be balanced, especially if shaking increases with speed..Tom.
My 97 RL was shaking badly too despite new tires & l just had both cv axles replaced and the shaking ended.
If your car is shaking, it normally has to do with your tires. Check your tires for a flat or to make sure they are securely put on.
Could be in need of a tune up.
This will depend upon the type of car you have, the type of shaking and what is causing the shaking. The solution may be anything from tightening a bolt to stop driving the car because it is dangerous.
possible warped brake pads or warped rotor Shaking while stopped, can be caused by broken motor mount, or engine miss.
This problemsounds like the tires might need to be rotated and balanced. the car might need to be aligned if the car pulls to the right when you are driving straight.
My steering wheel shakes what could this mean? _____ try getting your car re-aligned.
It could be that one of your brake discs is is bent this happend to my Ford Telstar which is just a rebadged 626, if the shaking is more orientated to a corner of the car that's your problem, if the whole car shakes I have no clue sorry
my first thought is the brake pads are warn out. pull the front wheels check the pads and rotors. your question was car stoped foot on brake in drive, CAR SHAKES i would say that the car is missfireing, bad plug ? bad wire? bad coil pack? or mabey a BURNT VALVE? Good luck I just had that problem and I replaced the master brake cilinder and it stop shaking. try that. it shakes because of the anti lock brake system.
because wheels need balancing
