My steering wheel shakes what could this mean?
_____
try getting your car re-aligned.
Could be tires out of balance. Or a bad tire.
change spark plugs
Wheels are not balanced or ball joints
Struts themselves cannot cause shaking, I think who ever was assembling your car did not install properly wheels or the alignment was disturbed.
I pullled the jeep on the highway, and once it crawled to 60 MPH, it started to vibrate violently. My mechanic told me that the tires are too aggressive, but they are Toyo Open Country A/T...had a pair on my old vehicle, SAME SIZE, and they never did this. The wrangler has 130000 miles on it...what could be the problem. I cant stand driving the car 30 miles on the highway each morning like that...though my girlfriend quite enjoyed it! Did you balance the tires? I had the same problem with my 97...
broken belt in a tire.have them checkedwill be lump or dip in tread of one tire, can feel it with palm of handis common issue.,
As I remember ^^ Because once you start the engine you give it power so it start working, and this power is really so HIGH that your car can start from 0 MPH to 100 MPH or something like this. So for sure it would shake.
A vehicle can be shaking and knocking when the speed gets over 50 mph if there is something wrong with the suspension. There might be a tie rod loose, a wheel that is out of balance, or the ball joints could be bad. This is a very dangerous situation that needs to be taken care of before an accident happens.
its chasis could be loose or its just old chasis being he thing that holds the wheels to the car.
This will depend upon the type of car you have, the type of shaking and what is causing the shaking. The solution may be anything from tightening a bolt to stop driving the car because it is dangerous.
If the car starts shaking in second gear the motor mounts are probably going bad. Lift the hood of the vehicle and inspect the rubber inserts. If they are cracked and brittle they will need replacement.
Especially if it does it for 5-10 mph at starting at a certain speed, it is almost always wheel balance only. If it persists, check for alignment and bent wheels.
