If it starts very rough but then clears out expect either fouling of spark plugs or a mixture problem that clears up when O2 feedback becomes available.
As far as the gage showing overheating... does it show this immediately after a cold start? Have you considered actually taking its temperature with a suitable tool?
Fault temp gauge.
If there is no temperature gauge on a motorcycle, the way to tell if the motorcycle is overheating is by smell or feel. If the bike smells like radiator hot water, it might be overheating. If the legs of the operator start to become so warm that it is uncomfortable to ride, it might be overheating.
if the temperature goes up on ur gauge but it is not overheating means ur thermostat is no good
It's broken
Engine is overheating, faulty gauge, faulty temp sensor......
The gauge on the far right side of the gauge cluster is your engine temperature gauge. The normal operating temperature is at the half-way mark. If the needle raises above the 3/4 mark then the car is overheating. A light will come on also if it begins to overheat.
Commonly check the temp gauge on the dash.
Is it overheating? If it is check the coolant level, waterpump, fan, etc. If not overheating check the wiring, temp sesnor, pcm, etc.
Check engine water temp with a thermometer -- Replace temperature sending unit
First off its a gauge not Gage and second the engine overheating would be the culprit their, genius.
have the thermostat checked, it could be stuck. Answer2 There is a number of reasons why. First though, you have to define the term "overheating". Is it the engine that gets hot or is just the gauge that is telling you so? And when does it overheat? Is it all the time or on certain instances, like when you turn on your defrost or heating or something like that? My '05 Cavalier had a big problem and I thought my engine was overheating. When I would turn on the defrost, the temperature in the gauge used to go up really really high and a smell like something was burning would appear. After going to a number of dealers and numerous attempts to fix the problem, we finally fixed it at a certain Chevi dealer in Glen Ellyn, IL. So I really do not know what to recommend because I do not know the reason why yours is overheating, but for me the problem was with the gauge. The engine was cool, and the gauge was reading the temperature incorrectly. They also told me that the smell came from a shopping bag that somehow was stuck at the car. I am sorry I cannot be of more help. Hope you find a solution.
A faulty thermostat might cause the temp gauge on the 2000 Nissan Altima to raise to hot when the car is not overheating. A faulty thermostat can cause the gauge to move up and down and might even turn the fan on.
